¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

Here the angel means the angel of the Lord. Angels are the created beings who stand in the presence of God at all times and are allowed to see the face of the Father at all times. In Matthew 18:10 …. for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

When this angel of the Lord stood before the shepherds, the glory of the Lord shone a light upon the shepherds and they were all greatly afraid. When a true born again believer spends time in God’s presence, they surely are filled with the presence of God’s glory. The angel came about from heaven to announce that good tidings of great joy were in order to all the people of God’s creation. It’s like the angel announcing, “Breaking News!”. When an angel of the Lord reveals good news that surely must be very good to hear. Because the news came from above. This is a confirmation from Heaven that surely the Son of God has come to earth to restore the peace and offer the free gift of salvation to everyone who calls on His name. In v11, For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Let’s meditate today on the angel’s announcement to the shepherds and ponder. Let’s focus our thoughts on the Lord through His Son Jesus Christ and experience His glory today. In Jesus name! Amen.
