Good News of great joy to all the people

Luke 2:10

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 

The angel appeared to the shepherds living out in the fields and declared to them who were taking care of their sheep, the Good News, that on this day in the city of David a savior is born and He will be a blessing to all the people.

The city of David is also called the city of Bethlehem because this is where King David was born. The Hebrew meaning of Bethlehem is called the House of Bread. The Old Testament prophecies speak of this relationship/lineage between Jesus Christ and King David.

Jeremiah 23:5, “ Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “ That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

And from the book of:

Isaiah 11:1, There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

Christ came into this world for you and me to save us from our sins. His body was broken for us to partake in this Holy calling. The Word of God (The Bible) is active and living and it is sharper than a two edged sword. It can discern the thoughts and the intents of our heart. During this season of Joy, let us influence ourselves with the Word of God and praise God for who He is and worship the Lord Jesus Christ. He is inviting us to spend the rest of eternity with Him. The world we live in is filled with thousands of ways to find happiness. But the only to find God is through His Son Lord Jesus Christ. He is the reason for Joy and happiness this season.
