God’s Word of the Day December 29 2022

Lord Jesus Christ feeds five thousand

Matthew 14:16

16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Lord Jesus Christ will not send anyone away without giving them something to fulfill their hunger. Here we see that when Jesus Christ saw the multitudes of people following Him, Jesus ensured that everyone of them had sufficient to eat and then there were twelve baskets full of fragments that were left after the five thousand men ate besides women and children.

Our God is a compassionate God. He never lets anyone who approaches Him go hungry. In fact the purpose for which He came into this world was to feed us with the bread that came from heaven. Jesus is the reason for this season. God created each one in the likeness of His image. He designed us in such a manner that we get hungry several times a day. The food that we eat sustains us physically. It gives us the strength to do our job(s). All the creatures that God created need food to survive. All the plants and trees need nourishment to grow. Everything is provided by God alone. For example take a tree, God sends rain for the tree to grow. He shows the prey to the lion and so on.

Man is the only creature that has the physical body, spirit and soul. As mentioned earlier we feed ourselves with physical food to nourish our bodies. To nourish our spirit we need the spiritual food. Spiritual food is not available at stores or online. It is only available through God. The purpose of the spiritual food is to equip us or to prepare us to meet God Himself. The spiritual food helps us to grow spiritually by teaching us how to live a life holy and pleasing God.

When Jesus fed the five thousand, He was simply showing the world that He is the One who is able sustain the hunger of that large crowd. When we allow ourselves to listen to the Words of Jesus, the Spirit of Jesus will fill us with wisdom that only Jesus can supply. All things of this world were created for Jesus and by Jesus Christ. Without Jesus there is nothing that exists.

In Jesus precious name! Amen.

Maranatha!
