In the beginning
Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God ………
Paul writes about the preeminence of Jesus Christ in Colossians 1:16-18. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
That means Jesus is first. In everything. First in importance, first in honor, first in exaltation. And the grammar of the verse indicates that Jesus is the “head” and the “beginning” and the “firstborn” in order that or for the purpose that Jesus might be the preeminent one.
Now let us look at what else happened in the beginning. Jesus spoke in Matthew 19:4, saying “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female.” And went on to say, “So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Only male and female can become one flesh and this is the Truth, according to Jesus Christ the Lord. This is how it was ordained by God in the beginning. And this is how it is going to end. No earthling has the authority to void what God has appointed. It is like the courts ruling to change the position of sunrise from the east to the north. It is impossible for the people of the earth to change it. It’s a forbidden thing. People can say now the sun rises from the north and the government can enforce it on the people to believe it. But the truth never changes. Jesus said that therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.
One might wonder what happens if man separates what God has joined. That will be a direct order of disobedience. Because of Eve’s disobedience in the garden of Eden, humanity still faces the consequences of the original sin even to this day. (Cont’d)
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless us all!
