In the beginning
Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God ………
Let us continue to see what happened to the serpent. Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. This is mentioned in the book of Genesis chapter 3 verse 1. This means, of course, that God did not make a “crafty” creature, an evil creature, but a particular creature that was wise, prudent as none of the other animals. God made an exceptionally wise creature. The Bible is the only Word of God that describes the history of creation in great detail. It is the only authority on creation because God is the author. Line by line or verse by verse is laid out in truth. There are many things in the scriptures we don’t understand but that does not mean God does not exist. One cannot deny the existence of a super natural God whose finger prints we see it in our day to day lives.
God said five things to the serpent after the Satan deceived Eve: 1. You are cursed more than all cattle 2. and more than every beast of the field 3. On your belly you shall go 4. And you shall eat dust 5. All the days of your life.
Let us take time to go through these five things that God said to the serpent. The first thing He said was that the serpent was cursed more than all cattle. Did you know that God created the cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind and Adam on the same day, the sixth day? Now God turns to the serpent, but with a notable difference: He doesn’t ask the serpent what he did. He doesn’t look for a confession or to engage in a debate with the serpent. Apparently, Satan either possessed a snake created by God, or he took the form of a snake. As Jesus will say centuries from this moment, Satan is a liar (John 8:44). God chooses not to give the liar a chance to speak in this moment. (Cont’d)
