In the beginning
Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God ………
The third thing that God said to the serpent was that the serpent would crawl on its belly. This brings to a question what was the serpent before the curse. There are many speculations regarding this subject. Since the Bible does not go into detail as to how the creature looked before God cursed it, is not critical for our understanding purposes. What is important is that the Word spoken by God pertaining to the serpent crawling on its belly for the unforeseeable future. Today there are over 3,000 species of snakes in the world and everyone of them crawls on its belly. You will never see a snake walking. This is the power of the Word of God. When He says something the impact of the result is permanent. When God placed the heavenly bodies in their respective places, they stayed in their positions until God says so.
Similarly, when God spoke to Adam and Eve after their disobedience to God’s commandment, thousands of generations later, we are still suffering the consequences irrespective of our nation, tribe or tongue. It affects the entire humanity. There is no not one who is righteous in the sight of God our creator. Only Jesus Christ is the righteous Son of God. Because He is the righteousness of God. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we too are made righteous with God.
Snake is the only creature that does not have legs of all the animals. That is the reason it cannot go in straight line. It has to crawl in a zigzag movement. Although God cursed it, He didn’t end its life. Majority of the world’s human population are afraid of snakes. Why do you think that is the case? There are many explanations science wise and otherwise but the most important thing is because what happened in the beginning in the garden of Eden. Here the serpent represented death, destruction and evil. Because of the serpent death entered into human race. Satan (in the guise of the serpent) instigated the fall by tricking Eve into breaking God’s command. Thus the serpent also represented temptation, the devil, and deceit. (Cont’d)
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless us all!
