In the beginning
Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God ………
Genesis 3:11: And He said, “Who told you that you were naked?
After Adam and Eve ate the fruit, their eyes were opened says the Bible. What’s in a fruit you might ask! Genesis 2:6 says, “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate”. But from the story we know that it was the work of the devil to entice Eve to take a bite. Two things happened here, one was Satan in the form of serpent and two, the fruit that changed the lives of Adam and Eve for good. Had Eve rejected the words of the Satan then sin wouldn’t enter into the world. The experience that Eve and Adam experienced is called the sound and sight experience. Today in this world everything is sound and sight related. The moment you turn the television ON there’s the sound and the sight. Not too long ago was the Super Bowl NFL game. All you heard was the loud screams of the observers and the action of the players in a stadium. Seems like very convincing sounds and very pleasant to the eyes. Similarly various provocative shows from Netflix and others are here to capture our minds and bodies and have us surrendered to them. The words that Eve heard was a similar sound of the world today. Very convincing.
The Word of God has a certain power that overpowers our thoughts and actions. Satan is a master in copying God and His ways. His conversation with Eve was just as identical as God’s was. That is the reason you don’t see Eve getting scared when talking to the serpent. This is quite important even today. Many among us hear voices in their minds telling them to do evil things. It is so easy to fall for the wrong things.
How do we tell the difference between these two voices? It depends on who we fellowship with. Word of God or the world we live in? The more we meditate on the Word of God, the more the Holy Spirit will fellowship with us. He will guide us every step of our way. The two trees, the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil being the middle part of the garden of Eden perhaps were identical to look at. The lesson to learn here is never to disobey the Word of God. If He says NO then it’s a NO. PERIOD. (Cont’d)
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless us all!
