In the beginning
Genesis 12:2
I will make you a great nation;
A nation is a community of people formed on the basis of a combination of shared features such as language, history, ethnicity, culture and/or society. God promised Abraham that He was going to make Abraham a great nation. Perhaps when Abraham heard God speaking those Words, he had no clue what was supposed to happen. Many times in our lives we hear things that do not make any sense. Being obedient to God’s Word is the key. The point to prove here is that God never fails His promises. Whatever He promises to do He will complete it. When God spoke to Abraham, he did not even have children of his own.
When God begins to work in one’s life, lives are transformed from bad to good. Abraham never would have thought that at the age of 75 years, a God that he never knew would call him and tell him to leave his country and his family members and travel to a place that God was going to show him. Abraham allowed God to transform him into a new person. God works with people who are willing to be transformed. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land.
Do we have the same kind of faith as Abraham did? Right after the first encounter with God, he went out to the place God showed him. How long have we been living out as Christians? Did we encounter Christ? Are we able to confidently and boldly say that whatever God wants us to do that we are willing to do? May our Lord Jesus Christ be with us for now and forevermore! Amen.
Maranatha!
