God’s Word of the Day March 18 2023

Genesis 17:3

Then Abram fell on his face

The Word of God declares that after God made the covenant with Abram to multiply him exceedingly, Abram fell on his face. This is the lowliest form of reverence, in which the worshipper leans on his knees and elbows, and his forehead approaches the ground. Throughout the scriptures we see that when men encountered God or Lord Jesus they fell on their faces. In Revelation 1:17, John fell at Jesus’ feet as though dead. The countenance of God is powerful than a million suns. The energy that is radiated from God’s glory is incomprehensible. Two thousand years ago our God made a covenant with His chosen believers through His Son Lord Jesus Christ.

It is called the New Covenant. This New Covenant is similar to the covenant that God made to Abraham. It is an unconditional promise of God. Abram did not have to do anything to receive God’s covenant. Out of God’s abundant grace, He decided to multiply Abram exceedingly. And in the New Covenant, we don’t have to do anything. All we have to do is to express our inability overcoming sin to God and He will do the rest. In fact, God had already sent His only Son into this world, that whoever believes in His Son, will not perish but have everlasting life.

You see God’s covenant with Abraham was only to multiply Abraham’s descendants. But the New Covenant is much superior than all other covenants of the Bible. This New Covenant offers each one of us an eternal life that is never going to end and we will be present with Lord Jesus Christ for eternity. If Abram fell on his face after receiving the covenant from God that would only multiply Abraham exceedingly, how much more should we fall on our faces at the Lords feet for giving us the new covenant that cost Him His Life? Christ died for us only to save us from our sins and was resurrected on the third day thereby giving us a new resurrected life. He washed us with His precious blood. Every born again believer’s place is only at the feet of Lord Jesus. How can we not thank Him who saved us from the clutches of miry clay and the wretched bondage of sin!

May Christ Jesus our Lord open our hearts and minds and speak to us through His Spirit. In Jesus precious name. Amen.

Maranatha!
