Genesis 17:6

I will make you exceedingly fruitful;

The Bible or the Word of God has a central theme throughout the scriptures. It is the word ‘fruitful’. Since the beginning of God’s creation of heavens and earth, there’s always progress being made. Anything that God created on the earth, He expects it to grow and multiply and become fruitful. Take for example God made the earth sprout grass. There’s a type of grass that spreads using rhizomes and then there is another kind that spreads using its seeds. God gave the grass the ability to form roots under the ground and spread. On the other hand God gave another type of grass the ability to produce the seeds and drop the seeds back into the ground after fully matured. Both these kinds of grasses were made by God but the outcome is in a different way. Bottom line here is that the grass begins to multiply no matter what. Unless the grass is fruitful it cannot be multiplied. The grass cannot become the feed for millions of cattle and oxen and all those animals and birds who feed on the grass or grass seeds. So, grass has become the staple diet of a whole lot of animals that God created.

Everything that God created comes to a point of maturity except for man. Spiritually speaking man is immature by nature. There is no way that he can multiply and be fruitful spiritually unless he is chosen by God. In the above passage, we see God making a covenant with Abraham and says that He will make him exceedingly fruitful. Making Abraham fruitful is only possible by God Himself. Making you and me fruitful spiritually is only possible by God. Millions of people in the world are not only spiritually immature but also physically and mentally they are not sound. if anyone who is physically and mentally sound they would find God, the Creator. Today in the world the children that are born into this world is made possible only by God. Whatever the mechanism that He placed in a man and a woman produces the fruit. There are two ways to think through this. One is a physical way, that is when a man reaches mental maturity not puberty, he will look for a life partner in his life. A woman to be more precise who also needs to be mentally matured meaning who understands life should unite with a man in a Holy Matrimony. All this should be done according to the will of God. When a man and woman gets married according to the Word of God, they are blessed with a child and this is as a result of God’s planning the DNA of man and woman separately. Being fruitful and multiply is a blessing from God.

Many couples do not embrace this path thus leading to chaos in their marriage but also the children brought into this world are way off. In the case of Abraham God foreknew everything that was going to happen to Abraham as God could see everything into the future. He sees us the same way. He knows how our life is going to begin and end. The Word of God is made available to us so that when we read the promises of God, He made to Abraham and others, we can put our faith and trust in God similarly to claim the truth.
