John 20:29 Seeing and Believing

Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Our Savior is a marvelous God. We cannot comprehend the way He spoke to His disciples or to any person. That is the reason many people misunderstood Him 2000 years ago. Nothing changed from that point until now. People still are unable to grasp the Lord’s nature. Lord Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate. Our Lord was humiliated for our sake. He went through suffering beyond our understanding to deliver us free from our sins.

The only way to God is by going through Jesus Christ. When our Lord Jesus gave up His breath on the cross it is written that the veil in the temple was torn from the top to bottom thus giving us the access to the most Holiest Place. Once every year the High Priest was allowed to enter into the Most Holiest Place by taking the blood of animals to atone for the sins of Israelites. It is called Yom Kippur. The High Priest would take the blood and sprinkle on the Ark of Testimony also called as the Mercy Seat. Once a year the priest was allowed and if God found out that there was anything unholy during this entry, God’s wrath would put the priest to death.

One needs to understand that we serve a mighty God who is Holy. His Holiness is what separates us from Him. Jesus Christ Him being the Holy God came into this unholy world and dwelled among us. He moved as a man in flesh. He mingled with tax collectors and fishermen and with untouchables those who were kept away from the society like lepers. God sent His Son not only to die for us but also reveal the love of the Father. Lord Jesus our Savior has also revealed the Holiness of God. How you may wonder? The death that our Lord went through was the wrath of God pouring out on His own Son. God showed the world how much He despises sin. Because the Father wanted to reconcile us to Him. So, He had His Son bear the cross for us and undergo brutal punishment. By His shed blood we are washed and saved.

People who have rejected time and time again our Lord’s death on the cross and have not asked for forgiveness of their sins, they will experience the wrath of God. You see for a little while everyone has been given a window of opportunity to seek the Father in heaven. This window of opportunity is only available through our Lord Jesus Christ. It might sound pretty harsh. A loving God who loves the world, will He pour out His wrath on the people that He created? The answer is a resounding YES.

May we all approach the throne of glory and seek the Father’s forgiveness through His Son Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is always ever ready to forgive us and lead us into His Kingdom. More next time. In Jesus name. Amen.

Maranatha!
