Matthew 10:8
Freely you have received, freely give.
If we read Matthew chapter 10 verses 7 and 8, we see that our Lord equipped His disciples to preach the Word of God saying the kingdom of heaven was at hand. Jesus gave His disciples the power to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out demons. Just like today there were many people suffering from various sicknesses. Leprosy was more prevalent in those days as they were called untouchables because the disease would spread to others through the infection of open sores. They were housed away in a separate area far away from the normal people. And then there were a lot of people tormented by demons. Our Lord out of His abundant grace gifted the disciples all these gifts so that they would go out and perform miracles and thereby changing the lives of people whoever believed in Jesus Christ.
God’s glory is all about sharing. You see when the sun shines it does not shine on one person exclusively. The light always shines 360 degrees. Jesus said that He was the light of world in John chapter 8 verse 12. That means He is the light of everyone who can receive Him irrespective of where they are located. It is very easy to stand under the sunlight but if we were to stand under the sun using an umbrella then the sun will not have any effect. So, if I am able to receive the light just by standing under the sunlight, then I should be able to invite others and have them experience the same. It did not cost me anything to stand under the sunlight so even if I bring a million people and have them stand under the sunlight I will not be loosing anything. The sun does not lose anything either because it is designed to produce light by God. This is just one example of God’s goodness and His mercy.
Figuratively speaking the disciples did not have to undergo rigorous training or go to a boot camp to receive the free gifts from Jesus. All our Lord Jesus Christ did was to speak to them and they’ve received them. Christianity is all about receiving the free gift of God super naturally. Men have to repent in their heart and mind and receive the free gift of salvation of God through Jesus Christ supernaturally. No one needs to attend or go to a special school or learn procedures or 10 steps processes to receive salvation etc. The disciples that our Lord chose did not earn their PhD’s or MDiv’s from the University of Jerusalem. They were poor fishermen, a tax collector, zealot, a thief and others.
When our Lord speaks things that did not exist before show up as though they existed. That is the reason when a sinner repents of his sins, the transaction is called redemption. It happens the moment one invites Jesus into his heart also called justification which is always a past tense. If it only took us a minute or two to repent and get saved, should we not share this justification process with others? Of course we can. God did not give us a choice if we can freely give it to others. Our Lord Jesus said to give. There’s no choice for a true born again believer whether to share the Gospel or not. It is a must because it didn’t cost us anything. The process of sharing Jesus with others is an unending process and will go on until the day of Christ.
May we all approach the throne of glory and seek the Father’s forgiveness through His Son Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is always ever ready to forgive us and lead us into His Kingdom. Until next time. In Jesus name. Amen.
Maranatha!
