Luke 24:45

⁴⁵ And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Yesterday in my blog I was able to show that unless and until we allow Jesus to open our understanding about Him, we will be at a loss to grasp of who He is. Look at the people of the world today. Billions of people have yet to realize who Christ is. The famous passage in the Bible is from the Gospel of John chapter three verse sixteen:

John 3 vs 16

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

This verse is the more precious than all the gold and silver found in the entire world. By today’s world standard, a person is considered rich by how much gold or how many diamonds he has collected and how much money they have in their bank accounts. Even countries are ranked by how much gold is in their reserves. For the year 2023 United States has over eight thousand metric tons of gold in the reserves. A country’s wealth and worthiness is calculated by how much gold they possess. The gold standard is a monetary system where a country’s currency or paper money has a value directly linked to gold.

Often this precious gold is found in rivers and streambeds. When the gold gets washed constantly by the streams of waters, the gold turns into a nugget. The shape of the gold becomes smooth and all the jagged edges are rounded. The above verse is more valuable than all the gold of the world combined. It is in the purest nugget form that a person can find it in the Bible. John three sixteen is the gospel in a nutshell. When we examine this passage, we see that it was a conversation between a Pharisee named Nicodemus and Jesus Christ. Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews. He had all the power and the wealth at his call. When he saw Lord Jesus perform miracles and healings, he came to an understanding that Jesus was no ordinary Man.

John 3 verse 2:

This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

This is the first step in knowing who Christ is.

Jesus then answered Nicodemus and said that unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Christ Jesus made a very bold statement. This declaration by Lord Jesus Christ stands forever. As I mentioned earlier that billions of people do not realize who Christ Jesus is. It is because of the ignorance that dominates the human minds. Any person who has never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and when they hear it for the first time it is like streams of water flowing through their hearts and their minds. All the gunk of the world that was restricting their understanding of who the true God is now made clearer and clearer. Life is not just enjoying the things of this world. It means knowing who the true God is. This should be the ultimate goal of every person living on this planet. The only way to know who the true God is by accepting Christ Jesus as your personal savior. There are no shortcuts or work arounds to get to God. Everyone has one life to live. Either we chose Christ in this life or chose the world.

Those who chose Christ to be their Lord and Savior, their understanding will be opened by Lord Jesus Himself, so that they would comprehend the scriptures of what was written about Him.

It is always a joy and a privilege to worship our God through His Son Christ Jesus.

May we give thanks to God the Father through Jesus Christ for enabling us to understand what it means to open our understanding by our Lord Jesus Christ.
