Luke 24:45

⁴⁵ And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

If one were to ask you a question of what is the most important thing in life? What would be your the answer? Some will say that money is the most important thing for them, for some it will be education, yet for some it will be inventing new technology and some will opt for peace and happiness and so on. But did you know that life is the most important thing for any person living on this planet earth. Without life all of the above things mentioned has no meaning. Everything that a person wants will be of no use if he is not there to enjoy. Many times we hear in the news that rich billionaires dying at young age. Lord Jesus explicitly declared in the Gospel of Matthew:

Matthew 16 verse 26

²⁶ For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

The question so many people don’t care about is that what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Let me re-phrase the question in a different way. What can man give in exchange to God so that his soul is spared by God the creator of heavens and the earth. Christ Jesus in Matthew chapter ten taught His disciples the fear of God.

Matthew 10 verse 28

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 

God who created the first Adam out of the dust and breathed life into him and since then has continued to bring babies out of their mother’s wombs for thousands of years. This is not something out of the ordinary. Out of one person, today we stand at over eight billion people and not counting those who have passed on. The spiritual truth that is behind the birth of a baby is beyond man’s comprehension. Only God has the power to bring a child into this world and has the power to destroy both soul and body in hell. This is the reason man has to fear God. No matter what your social status is, one day everyone of them will be held accountable for all their evil actions on the earth while they were alive.

You see managing the earth is a gigantic task. It is not for the faint hearts. For God to establish His sovereignty over everything, He has to have powers beyond our understanding and ability. Lot of unbelievers, meaning those who do not believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His Son Jesus Christ who has been given all authority, when trouble hits them, they scream, yell and cry and do other weird things to get God’s attention. God will not hear their cries no matter for how ever long they have been suffering and crying. It is because they have simply rejected His Son Lord Jesus Christ. If anyone rejects Christ, Christ will reject them and He will deny them in front of His Father and His Angels.

Matthew 10 verse 32-33:

³² “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. ³³ But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Luke 12 verse 8-9:

⁸ “Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. ⁹ But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

You don’t want to stand in the judgement of God. We serve a holy and righteous God. In the beginning of God’s creation man disobeyed God by breaking His orders and because of that result, man has been experiencing the wrath of God everyday endlessly. This wrath will stop only when all things are made new.

Those who chose Christ to be their Lord and Savior, their understanding will be opened by Lord Jesus Himself, so that they would comprehend the scriptures of what was written about Him.

May we all give thanks to God the Father through Jesus Christ for enabling our minds as to what it means to open our understanding by our Lord Jesus Christ.
