1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

¹⁶ For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. ¹⁷ Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. ¹⁸ Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Yesterday we read how the post tribulation view point argument allows all the believers to go through the great tribulation. According to this view every believer will be severely persecuted and martyred. Because for seven years the rule under the antichrist will be unbearable. Those who stand for Christ will be put to death. The Word of God is clear that those who are still alive shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. If everyone of the believer is dead sooner or later during the tribulation period of seven years, then there will be no believers left out that are alive to meet Christ in the air.

Revelation 7 verse 9 says:

⁹ After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

Who are the great multitude you might wonder that stand before the throne and before the Lamb? These are the ones according Revelation chapter seven verse fourteen that have been martyred during the Great Tribulation time. These include the Jews and the Gentiles. Let’s say hypothetically if these were raptured during the post tribulation, then what happened to the much greater multitude that were alive before the tribulation began? Where are they? Are they still living during the Great Tribulation period? What happened to all the dead that died from the ages past?

Revelation 7 verse 14 says:

¹⁴ And I said to him, “Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Now let me take your thoughts to another incident. This incident is the greatest of all time since the beginning of this creation. That is Christ dying on the cross. Did you know that Christ’s death was the most horrific in the history of mankind? The pain and suffering and the sacrifice that our Lord Jesus Christ went through surpasses the seven year Tribulation. The tribulation that is coming on this world pales in comparison with the death of Christ. He, God Himself manifested in the flesh took the sins, burdens and sorrows of the entire mankind and everything else that He created on this earth and under the earth. Because of Adam’s sin everything that God created on this earth was affected.

The saints during the Great Tribulation are the ones who found out about the true Messiah. This includes the Jews and the Gentiles. For over two thousand years Jews have been rejecting Christ. They have been blinded by the law of Moses. But the Lord lifts the veil during the Great Tribulation period and removes the scales of their eyes that caused them to go blind spiritually and then they will realize who the Messiah is and how much they have rejected Him. The Bible declares that there will be 144,000 from the twelve tribes that will be sealed. The zeal that is born out of the new found Messiah will enable them to sacrifice their lives for Christ. They all will recall their hatred of Christians and Christianity all these years. They will realize how they crucified our Lord on the cross two thousand years ago and repent of their unbelief. These Jews then will go out to the ends of the world and preach the Gospel of Jesus like no other. And in doing so will be persecuted and put to death.

May we all give thanks to God the Father through Jesus Christ for removing us from the hour of trial which is going to come upon this world. That time is called the tribulation. For the wrath of God will be poured like never before during that time.
