God’s Word of the Day June 22 2023 The Lord is my shepherd;

Psalm 23:1-2

23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.

The sheep is always led by a shepherd. When the sheep are led to the green pastures and fed from the same pasture all of the sheep grow alike. Since they all get the same amount of nourishment. They all rest on the same pasture. The shepherd provides them with comfort. There’s no greater or lesser among them. The Psalm 23 is a Psalm of King David. David at one point in his life was a shepherd boy. He knew how to take care of the sheep. Metaphorically the Lord is our shepherd. If the Lord is our shepherd then we are His sheep. As a born again Christian believer we have to wait on the Lord for all our needs. We not only have to wait upon Him but also wait to be led by Him. Since the Lord lead’s everyone of us to the green pasture, we get to feed on the same bread Jesus Christ that came from heaven. And we all get the same kind of rest and comfort from God.

He leads His children beside the quiet waters. That means He does not allow us to get stressed. As the water is calm and peaceful so is when we are in the presence of God. The still water means there is no danger and no harm around His children. God Himself will be our protector. This is the place where our body, mind and soul long to be in the presence of the Lord. He Himself is our still waters. Many places in the scripture He identifies with the living water. Once anyone who tastes that still water will never go back from where he came from. Let us lean on to our God, the maker of heavens and the earth and gather our thoughts towards the Great Shepherd. Let us seek God the Father today through His Son Lord Jesus Christ who is our Chief Shepherd.

He is the only way to the Father Lord God Almighty. Through Him alone we can reach out to the Father. Heavenly Father, words are not enough to describe your love for us. Thank you Lord for all the blessings in Christ Jesus.

In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Maranatha!
