God’s Word of the Day June 23 2023 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him

Matthew 14:15

15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

Far too many times, believers tend to advice God about doing a certain thing their way. Not knowing that God can do the things that are impossible for man to achieve but with God all things are possible. Such is the case when the disciples of Jesus told Him that the hour was already late and it would be better for the multitudes to be sent away since there wasn’t any food available to feed the five thousand men besides the women and the children. The disciples when they saw the huge multitudes of men, women and children they were overwhelmed with despair. Because they knew that it was impossible to feed that many number of people as they did not have the money to buy the bread.

Even though this incident is mentioned in all the four gospels it does not mention the number of people that were healed from sickness. Apart from healing the sick Jesus also taught them many things as the scriptures say. At the end of the day the multitude was of course tired and hungry. Probably some of you have attended the revival meetings that include healing services and at the end of the long meeting everyone of them is exhausted, tired and hungry.

It was a similar situation here. The people have walked a long way to hear Jesus teach and heal and by now it was getting dark and too late to head back to the village. The disciples wanted to send the multitude away as they did not have the money to buy the bread for that many people. So they went to Jesus and suggested that He should send the multitude away. Little did the disciples realize that they were advising the Son of God. The disciples thought that they knew better than their Master. Even today many believers do this mistake. They go on about giving advice to God what to do or how to approach a certain problem. Many times we feel that we can control the situation by ourselves without God’s intervention. Even though we are the children of God, we ignore this truth and suggest God how to handle the situation.

When we allow the natural man or the old man this is what happens in the believers life. We tend to give suggestions to the creator of the Universe. Regardless of the disciples witnessing all the miracles that Jesus performed still thought that He would not be able to resolve the hunger of the five thousand people. A believer needs to believe that our God is an all knowing God and has sovereignty over the entire creation. Nothing is impossible with Him.

Lord Jesus Christ was able to take the five loaves and two fish and multiplied to feed not only the five thousand men, but fed also the women and their children. In the end there were twelve basketfuls of the fragments that remained. No believer should ever suggest God what to do without ever finding the Lord’s will first.

Too many church denominations for ages have started their own groups without the knowledge and will of God. Instead they have been forcing God to accept their style of worship. Every denomination that is not according to the will of God will be rejected by God. These groups think that they are doing the right thing and try to compete with one another. Severe judgement of God is going to fall upon these denominations. Too many times man has tested God’s patience. There’s a whole list of these kind of denominations that have compromised with the world and think that God will not mind.

May we all learn first to know the will of the Father through His Son who has been given the authority over this creation. Him alone we should serve. He is the only way to the Father Lord God Almighty. Through Him alone we can reach out to the Father. Heavenly Father, words are not enough to describe your love for us. Thank you Lord for all the blessings in Christ Jesus.

In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Maranatha!
