Galatians 2:20
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;
The above passage from Galatians chapter two verse twenty has a deeper meaning. A truly born again believer has nothing to long for outside of Christ. His life revolves around the life of Christ. One might say, how can that be possible? Do you mean to tell me that one has to quit everything that the world has to offer? The answer to those questions is YES. There are a lot of Christian’s that have no understanding how to lead a holy life. Apostle Peter reminds us in first Peter chapter one verse sixteen.
1 Peter 1 verse 16:
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
In the above verse God Himself declared to the Israelites that they ought to live a holy life. One cannot live a holy life, if he/she is enjoying the pleasures of this world and go back into the presence of God once in a while. Jesus Christ declared in Matthew chapter six:
Matthew 6 verse 24:
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Our Lord Jesus made it very clear that we cannot serve pleasures of this world and God. We can only serve God if we are able to let go the pleasures of the world. There are many famous people of this world who are always enjoying the pleasures and riches. But one has to ask themselves a question. How long will it last? A man’s lifespan will not last forever. The flesh has to die one day. No matter a man may take an elixir to extend his life but even that will have a shelf life. It is going to expire. Nothing of this world lasts forever. You see when God made man, He allotted man a timeline and has set the boundaries of life so that man would not go beyond those set points.
Having said that, let us turn our attention to the born again believer’s life. What makes a person born again Christian? One who has accepted Christ as their personal savior and Lord of their life. That means this person has received Christ into his life. Since man has invited Christ into his heart therefore Christ lives in him. But is it just enough for a man to allow Christ into his heart? No. From that point onwards, man has to allow Christ to transform his heart. Man has to learn to live a holy life by pleasing the living God. The born again believer has to become sensitive to the will of God. Always with prayer and supplication finding the will of the Father. Never jump ahead of God’s will and never suggest God of what you think is better for your life or someone else’s life.
Learning to be gentle in all your dealings. Taking every opportunity conveying the gospel of Jesus to others. By spending more time in meditating the Word of God, the Holy Spirit who is residing is us helps us understand the fellowship between us and the Father and He is the One who strengthens us and creates in us a desire to seek Jesus Christ.
By doing all of the above mentioned things, we can boldly declare that it is no longer I who is living but Christ lives in me because I have been crucified with Christ. Praise the Lord who is our Savior for eternity.
In Jesus mighty name. Amen.
Maranatha!
