Psalm 103:2

² Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:

And forget not all His benefits. Where shall we begin? Did you know about the benefits that God allows in our life? I am just going to mention one of the benefits that God does for us. To write all the benefits from God is beyond the scope of this blog. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Did you know that God thought about us even before we are born? God spoke to Jeremiah saying:

Jeremiah 1 verse 5:

⁵ “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;

Yes. First of all we have no understanding of how we were brought into this world. Did you know after how many generations that a person is born in the present day? In order for us to be born, God has to think about the previous ten thousand (a generic number) generations. It is impossible for us to calculate and impossible to know the figures. Only God knows the beginning of our ancestors and how we are all brought into this world through Adam. We don’t even know whether the other generations were Christians or not. What about our ancestors before Christ? What were they? Were they pagans? Don’t know. In today’s world there are about eight billion people living in the world. These eight billion people are somehow connected to one person that is Adam.

It almost seems like it is impossible to believe this truth. But that is the truth. Through one man Adam, God made the rest of the world population we see today. God did not just say, let Me create Adam and the rest is history. No. God was present at every step of this human civilization. In order for the Universe to work in sync, God’s glory has to constantly hold everything together. Take for example a human being. When a child is born, that is not the end of it. The child has to grow. In order to grow, the child needs nourishment like milk, food and water. But that’s not enough. Every part in the baby’s body has to work harmoniously with each member of his/her body. The body is not automatic, it is not set it and forget it.

The body needs maintenance daily. The body needs to excrete the waste just as the body needs feeding. If the skin is not washed daily then the bacteria can infect the skin with open sores and wounds. Then there are thousands of other things that help the growth of a child’s body. That is just one stage of life. Then there is the age of toddler, teen, youth, young adult, man, marriage, child bearing age, middle age, not so young age, old age and so on. During these stages of life God is actively involved in that person. There’s not a single time that God leaves someone at any time. Man on the other hand doesn’t feel like he ever needs God until God begins to work in that person.

Take another example of a tree growing. A tree perhaps grows from a transplant or from a seed. Over the years the little plant grows into a mighty tree. The trunk grows into a mighty and strong to hold the heavy branches. The tree also develops a strong root system to hold the trunk for a number of years. Growth and strength is provided by God. He keeps a close eye on its growth. He sends the timely rain, timely sun and prunes it whenever it is needed. Glory to Him.

What is your excuse to forget all the benefits that God has blessed you with? Narrow mindedness allows us not to see the benefits of God.

Seek Christ today and begin to bless Him and thank the Father for all the benefits that you have received from Him. In return He will bless us with the blessings that we have never seen before.
