God’s Word of the Day August 20 2023 Because narrow is the gate

Matthew 7:14

14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

In this world there are many who profess to know the way to finding God. Since the world is filled with so many religions for so many centuries people have come up with different ways in forming religions. Take for example the ancient Egyptian deities were an integral part of ancient Egyptian religion and were worshipped for millennia. These gods and goddesses appear in virtually every aspect of ancient Egyptian civilization, and more than 1,500 of them are known by name. Many Egyptian texts mention deities’ names without indicating their character or role, while other texts refer to specific deities without even stating their name, so a complete list of them is difficult to assemble.

The deities of Hinduism have evolved from the Vedic era (2nd millennium BC) through the medieval era (1st millennium AD), regionally within Nepal, Pakistan, India and in Southeast Asia, and across Hinduism’s diverse traditions. The Hindu deity concept varies from a personal god as in Yoga school of Hindu philosophy, to thirty-three major deities in the Vedas, to hundreds of deities mentioned in the Puranas of Hinduism.

Then there is Buddhism that evolved in the 5th century BC. The latest is the religion of Islam that was founded in the 6th century AD.

The common denominator between all of these religions is man. Meaning man is the source of all these religions. After the fall of man, sin entered into God’s creation. That is the reason all man formed religions have no basis in the truth. Since there is no foundation that is based upon the truth

In the case

In the above passage Jesus Christ claimed Himself to be the door. Now let us look at the meaning of the word ‘door’. In Hebrew language, the door is called ‘Pethach’ which can mean doorway, entrance, or an opening. The writers in the Gospel of Matthew and John use different words. Matthew uses the word gate and John uses door. Although doors are typically part of a building, while gates are typically part of a fence. Doors provide someone access to something, while gates control access to something by a flow of people. Whether it is the door or the gate the purpose is to let someone pass through.

For example the king’s palace has both doors and gates as well. Usually there is the main door or the main entrance that lets inside the palace and similarly a main gate that allows to the outside of the main door through a garden. A castle is surrounded by a huge wall that acts a fence and it has a big gate. No one can enter into that palace without entering through the main gate first.

Lord Jesus Christ Himself is the gate and the door. In the Gospel of John chapter fourteen and verse six, Jesus declared that He is the way to the Father.

Jesus said in the above passage from Matthew 7:14, that He is that gate. The gate that is narrow. Here narrow means the way of Christ alone. No one can go through Mary, or other dead people to Jesus. One has to approach only Christ to get saved. You see Lord Jesus Christ’s ministry on this earth lasted for about three and half years. During those years, Jesus went through lot of difficulties. His Life was filled with persecutions, burdens, trials, temptations, and in the end He was crucified on a Roman cross. Until Jesus came into this world people did not know the way to God the Father. The people of this world did not know who the Father was. The Jewish people did not know how to reach out to God the Father of the Universe. They were lost in their traditions also called the works and did not know how to please the Living God. Year after year they were offering sacrifices of goats and other animals blood as an atonement for their sins. Killing innocent animals and shedding their blood. This process was to be done as a ritual year after year called the Yom Kippur.

Jesus Christ was sent by the Father to abolish the temporary animal sacrifices year after year. The death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ resulted in setting free of those who were living in bondage of sin and slavery once for all. The death of our Lord was the most painful and most heinous in nature. Because of the Lord’s death and His resurrection, any person from any race or tribe has been given the opportunity to inherit the Kingdom of God once they confess and repent of their sins and ask Christ to come into their hearts by believing in the Father through Jesus Christ. The only way for any person to enter into the Kingdom of God is through Jesus Christ. There is NO other way. All the other ways orchestrated by men lead to a wide gate that leads to death and eternal separation from Lord Jesus Christ.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:

Acts 16:31

31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.

In Jesus precious name! Amen.

Maranatha!
