Matthew 7:14

¹⁴ Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

As I mentioned in my last blog the entire ancient Egyptian gods no longer exist today. Similarly the ancient Greek gods, and the Roman gods no one remembers them today. Abraham and his family were idol worshippers before God called him out of Ur of Chaldeans.

Every person who is not saved by Jesus Christ is a worshipper worshipping worthless idols. Idols doesn’t necessarily have to be an object. It can be a belief system. An atheist believes that God doesn’t exist. Abraham’s father Terah and his father Nahor were all idol worshippers. They all adhered to a belief system that was being passed on from generation to generation.

Similarly all of the ancient religions and the current religions have been passed on from one generation to another. In the case of the ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman and other religions, when their kingdoms collapsed the idols collapsed too. New civilizations began to take over and new idols were cleverly created by the new civilizations. Whenever a civilization ends there goes their idols with them.

One might wonder how Jesus Christ is superior than all of the man made idols, and his ideas and his belief systems. Because Jesus Christ is not of this world. Everything that exists in this world and for that matter even the earth was made by Christ and for Christ. Every life that exists on this planet and every death of all living creatures is appointed by God through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said this:

Matthew 24:35

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

The Words of Jesus Christ will by no means pass away. Because He is the Son of God. Jesus has no beginning and no end.

If a person is born and brought up in an entirely different religion, tradition and custom, it is going to be very hard for that person to leave his family and join a family that is unknown or unfamiliar to him. This is what happens when an unbeliever joins the family of God. God takes care of that new believer every step of the way. It is just like a new born baby. The mother lovingly takes care of the new born baby.

Jesus Christ said, to enter through the narrow gate. Here narrow gate means seeking every need through Jesus Christ only. No matter how hard it is going to be we have to submit our request(s) and our petitions through Christ alone. Sometimes life can be hard facing very difficult situations. During those times, a believer cannot give up his faith and hope in Christ. During Jesus Christ’ ministry on earth, He went through various trials and tribulations. But in the end, Christ triumphed victory and has overcome the world.

John 16:33

³ These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

We have to learn to seek the things that are above, then God is going to hear and answer our prayers according to His mercy and grace.

Colossians 3:2

² Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 

Jesus is the only way for God to answer our need. He is our narrow gate through which we have to enter that leads to life, that is enter into the kingdom of God.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:

Acts 16:31

³¹ So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.
