Matthew 7:14

¹⁴ Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Why did Jesus say that only a few will find the narrow gate? Jesus Christ is God and the creator of all things.

Colossians 2:3 says this:

2:3 In whom. Since Christ is the Creator and Sustainer of all things (Colossians 1:16, 17), and since His gospel is implicit in every thing created (Colossians 1:23), it follows that true science is essentially thinking God’s thoughts after Him. All the treasures of true wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ (Matthew 13:52), and all education should be Christ-centered.

2:3 wisdom. False wisdom (i.e., “philosophy”) was the device used by Satan to tempt Eve (Genesis 3:6), and false knowledge (“false science”— I Timothy 6:20) was the corrupt fruit which brought death into the world (Genesis 2:17; 3:17-19).

2:3 knowledge. “Knowledge” is synonymous with “science,” both being translations of the Greek gnosis. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning” of both true wisdom and true knowledge (Proverbs 1:7; 9:10).

So, when Lord Jesus speaks it is for eternity. No one can change or alter His Words. According to Christ very few people choose the narrow gate. In this vast world of over eight billion people, imagine the Gospel is being continuously shared online through various websites, in countless number of Churches preaching the Good News, thousands and thousands of Christian Missionaries helping the poor and needy, and individual Preachers and families doing Bible Studies and street preaching, in spite of all of these efforts only a few of them will be saved. The Churches are filled with people but only a few want to give their heart and surrender to the authority of Christ.

Living out the Christian life is not an easy choice. In order to live as a Christian one must follow only Christ. I have seen many Pastors and lay ministers seeking after the worldly things. Right after they finish preaching and going home, they are sitting in front of the television and watching NFL, NBA and WNBA games. Sometimes called binge watching. Many Pastors are biased because of their skin color and preach what is not written in the Bible. They prioritize social justice causes above the Word of God. They teach their congregations all the wrong things because they think that they are the spokesperson(s) of God.

Many of us suggest God to do certain things in their own way rather than being obedient to the Word of God. We pressure God to make things happen according to our lifestyle. One of the main thing that a Christian needs to understand is to know the will of the Father. The reason we lack this is because we don’t have the knowledge of God’s wisdom. The more we are attached to this world, the more we get sucked into the worldly ways which separates us from God.

Remember this, a born again believer is called to glorify only God through His Son Lord Jesus Christ. When a Pastor glorifies the football players and talks about it the next day, he is not glorifying God. When someone watches a football game, not every player of that game is a born again believer. So, whenever we praise the worldly ways more than God, we are unfit to enter into the kingdom of God. That is the reason Jesus Christ said this:

Matthew 7:23:

²³ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

It would be the most horrible time for that person when Jesus says that He never knew him. So, the world is filled with people who pretend to know God but in the end, it is God who judges the living and the dead.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:

Acts 16:31

³¹ So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.
