God’s Word of the Day September 26 2023 Seek the Lord while He may be found

Isaiah 55:6

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

The pathway of blessing lies in seeking the LORD and in forsaking sin. Those who thus return to the Lord will find Him full of mercy and pardon. Seeking the Lord means finding the Lord. You see many people think that it is easy to find God but in reality it is not. Take for example the mattress that we use to sleep every night. The researchers must have spent countless number of hours finding the perfect fabric, cushioning material and proper support for the back and neck and must have slept on that bed a zillion times to test the quality of the sleep.

One has to work hard to accomplish to certain goals. A tree cannot grow overnight and yield fruit the next day. It takes years for that tree to grow and finally yield the fruit. In many cases we reap the benefits of someone else’s hard work. Every manufacturer releases their products with new features every year. Similarly new model cars are equipped with new features. One of the most famous person is Thomas Edison, credited with inventing the carbon telephone transmitter, light bulb, and phonograph. In fact, it took 1,000 unsuccessful attempts before he created the first light bulb.

All of the man made inventions and amenities, that we enjoy day to day are the results of countless number of hours put in by people inventing a certain product. Even after inventing the product, improvements are made to the products. This is what we call it as tweaking. New versions are released to improve the performance of the old one. The products are improved from the previous years and released to the public.

So, if man is able spend enormous amounts of time to invent new products or develop a system for the betterment of society, can’t man seek God? Of course he can. Every worker contributes his expertise to the growth of the company he or she is working in and in return he receives compensation for his labor. Similarly when we seek God, God is not just going to keep quiet. In fact He will reward us with the blessings greater than this world can offer. Man labors most of his life to earn bread and take care of his family.

Isaiah commands people to call upon God ‘while He is near’ and to repent from unrighteousness. Abundant pardon is on offer through the mercy of God for those who ‘return to the Lord’. If the people wished to experience the Lord’s blessing, they had to seek Him while there was opportunity to do so. The Lord’s promise demanded a response and needed to be appropriated through repentance and faith. The Lord would abundantly pardon those who turned to Him. God never rejects any person who seeks the will of God.

Verse 6 implies both a promise and a warning. There is urgency in this call, for the time is not unlimited. Both in lifestyle and in the attitudes that lie behind it, the sinner is wrong; and so repentance must touch the inner person as well as the outward deeds. The call here is not simply uttered to the people as such but to the individual. The promise of God’s pardon is assured.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:

Acts 16:31

31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.

In Jesus precious name! Amen.

Maranatha!
