God’s Word of the Day October 04 2023 Jesus answered them,

John 6:70

70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”

Jesus speaking to His disciples said that one of them was a devil. Jesus did not say that the disciple was influenced by the devil or tempted by the devil but instead said to the group that one of them is a devil. Many times when a person does evil things we say that person is possessed by the devil. There are two ways that the devil can accomplish his purpose in this world. One is by influencing the targeted person and the other is residing in that person.

We see this happening to some of the born again believers also. The Bible says that the devil cannot occupy a believers life but it can influence the believer to do and choose evil things. There is a big difference between doing evil things under the devil’s influence and the devil himself taking control of a person and having that person commit evil things. In this world we live in there are millions and millions if not billions of people who are influenced by the devil and do things that are shameful to themselves and others and sinful against God. Then there are people who are possessed by the devil and sell their birthright to the devil. This means that they surrender their lives to the devil and allow the devil to take full control of their bodies and minds.

The latter kind of people are not hesitant to commit the most heinous crime that the normal people wouldn’t even imagine committing in their dreams. That is what the devil does. Its job is to enter into the spirit of man and take control of that person. The people we see and talk everyday whether we ride in a bus or in a train or fly in an airplane, and whole bunch of other places, many of them are possessed by the evil spirits. Any person possessed by an evil spirit doesn’t walk with a placard saying that he is possessed. They will be wearing a designer’s outfit and mingling with the general public and influencing them with their charm.

Such is the case with one of the disciple of Jesus Christ. This disciple was called by Jesus as the devil himself. Anyone who has evil intentions, he is no longer a follower of the devil but he becomes the devil himself. When we read from the Gospel of Matthew chapter twenty six and verse fifteen it says this:

In the above verse Judas betrayed our Lord for thirty pieces of silver. Now Judas Iscariot was a disciple of Jesus for about three years and in this three years, none of the disciples had any kind of complaints about the way Jesus treated them. Given the value of thirty pieces of silver Judas could have enjoyed without working anywhere between five days to one hundred and twenty days. Thus it shows that Judas Iscariot did not betray Christ for just thirty pieces of silver. His intention in other words or the devil’s intention was to kill Jesus and prove it to the world that Satan is above God.

This is exactly the case in the world today. Those who want to destroy Christianity are not normal people. They are the children of the devil or in other words the devil himself is on a mission to take the place above the throne of God of the Universe.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Romans chapter 10 and verse 13 says this:

Romans 10:13

13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

In Jesus precious name! Amen.

Maranatha!
