The parable of the Wheat and the Tares
Matthew 13:25
25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
Christianity began with our Lord Jesus Christ preaching the Good News to the people who were lost and did not have anyone leading them to God the Creator of this Universe. The Gospel of Jesus Christ touched the hearts of many Jews and Gentiles and transformed them into children of God. No matter what their background was or where they belonged from, they were all drawn to the Son of God, Lord Jesus Christ’s authority and the way of His teachings and miracles. Because He was the true Messiah that the Jewish people were looking for centuries for His coming. During this time many followed Jesus and many rejected Him. Those who rejected Christ, at least some of them were not too happy about the way of the Cross. They conspired to kill the Messiah because they thought by killing Jesus would put an end to Christianity. Christ Jesus fulfilled the prophecies that were written about Him. He was nailed to the cross and crucified. Jesus Christ died for our sins to set us free from the bondage of sin and slavery. But little did they understand that Lord Jesus Christ was indeed the Son of God. On the third day He rose from the dead conquering the death.
The central theme of Christianity is that whoever practices Christianity must adhere strictly to the Words of Christ. Period. Since the first century many so called Christians drifted away from the true teachings of Jesus Christ and started a new form of Theology(s). The Roman Catholic Church is one of them.
Even Apostle Paul traveled during his ministry to the various Churches and encouraged them and rebuked them whenever there was a disorder in the teachings of the Word of God.
1 Corinthians 3:1-3
3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal.
Many so called Christians were carnally minded people during Paul’s time. It means that the mind that is self-willed, self-focused and self-seeking. The carnal mind is devoid of the ability to surrender wholeheartedly to God. Even after two thousand years of Christianity many believers are carnally minded people. Many people attend Church to talk about sports and movies or to date somebody. They have no inclination to hear the Word of God.
When we read the parable about the wheat and tares, we see that the true Word of God was imparted by our Lord Jesus Christ to the men He chose that could be compared to wheat. Then came the tares that is, the weeds in the form of Judaism, Mormonism, Adventism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Islamism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, Atheism, Communism and gender confusing theories hidden within the societies. Some of these religions go way back three or four thousand years. Judaism ended with the first advent of Christ. But many Jews don’t believe that. When men ignore Christ, they become like the tares or the weeds that is of no value to God. The Bible declares that Lord Jesus Christ is the judge of the living and the dead. There’s no escape from His judgements.
Let us not forget to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Psalm 122:6
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:
Acts 16:31
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
