The parable of the Wheat and the Tares
Matthew 13:30
30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
The Parable of the Tares is Explained by our Lord Jesus Christ starting in verse 36 through 43:
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
By reading the above passages from the Gospel of Matthew chapter eleven we come across few important things that Jesus Christ mentioned. Today we will meditate on the following:
- Jesus Christ allows for the world religions to prosper until the end of the age
Many times we wonder as to what is going on in this world. It seems like all the false religions are expanding their bases throughout the world. They are adding numbers exponentially by the minute. Take for example, the Muslim population is growing rapidly and by the end of 2030, the expectation is that it is going surpass the Christianity by a wide margin.
Similarly Hinduism is the third fastest growing religion in the world today. And Buddhism following behind them and so on so forth. The difference between Christianity and all the other religions is that in the case of world religions people can chose to become one of them. The role of their gods is insignificant in drawing towards them. Anyone can become a Buddhist if one is able to abandon the worldly pleasures. One can chose to become a Hindu and select a Hindu god of his choice and worship because there are countless number of them. Similarly a person can chose to become a Muslim convert and chose to become a Sunni or a Shiite after conversion. But if one is born in a Sunni family, he will remain a Sunni for the rest of his life.
In the case of a Christian, a Christian does not chose God but he is chosen by God Himself before the foundations of this earth was laid out. That means even before God made Adam, God thought about the person He was going to chose and allow him to enter into the Kingdom of God through His Son Jesus Christ. This selection is called the pre-destination. All the people of this world were ordained by God so that they would be born at a certain time and year. They were all brought into existence by God into this world out of their mother’s womb. But the planning that took place in bringing each person into this world is beyond our comprehension.
A Christian does not chose who he wants to worship. Unlike the Catholics they worship the Pope, Mary, the dead people who they call them saints. In their mind they are unable to approach Jesus Christ directly and that is the reason they go through Mary to help them out. A truly born again believer presents and submits his praises and supplications to the Father only through His Son Lord Jesus Christ.
By the will of the Father, Christ draws us into Himself and the result is that when we acknowledge that Christ is our Lord and Savior, instantly the Comforter or the Holy Spirit comes into our heart and takes up the residence in our life. Up until this point no one is able make a choice of choosing God because we have no life to think about God and His mercy. The point to which we are brought into God’s presence is an act of God’s mercy and His grace. This is the reason no one can boast that they chose God.
The Bible declares that Lord Jesus Christ is the judge of the living and the dead. There’s no escape from His judgements. Seek the Lord Jesus Christ while He is found.
Let us not forget to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Psalm 122:6
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:
Acts 16:31
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
