Luke 9:56

⁵⁶ For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”

In the above passage, we see the authority of Jesus Christ. There’s only Person in the Universe that can boldly declare like that. The only Person that can speak like that is God who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Our God is Omnipotent, He is Omniscience and He is Omnipresent. These are the three attributes of God. The three “omni” attributes of God characterize him as all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present. Each of these involves the other two, and each provides a perspective on the all-embracing Lordship of the true God.

When we examine the above declaration by our Lord Jesus Christ, it is evident that He is saying that even though He has the power to destroy men’s lives, He has chosen not to destroy at this time but to save them. The Lord is saying that He can save them those who are perishing or dying in sin. Christ Jesus has the power to redeem anyone who repents of his sins and confesses that Jesus is Lord, from death to life.

The people of this world have a hard time knowing God and many do not believe that Lord Jesus Christ is God in flesh. Matthew chapter one and verse twenty three declares this:

Matthew 1:23

²³ “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

“God with us.” The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him that the newborn Son shall be called Immanuel. One has to understand and grasp the nature of Joseph’s dream. Up until this time the Jewish people only had the law of Moses to abide by. But now God Himself will be with them. God will walk among the people that were living in darkness. He will grant them to see the light of the world. What a blessing it is for the people of this world to see the Glory of God through His Son Jesus Christ? The people who were blinded by the law are now set free from the curse of the law. Jesus redeemed you and me through His death and resurrection.

The problem with the people of this world is that they want to remain in darkness their entire lives and this is the reason people have failed to Glorify God through Christ Jesus. Our Lord’s intention is not to destroy men’s lives but to save them.

The Bible declares that Lord Jesus Christ is the judge of the living and the dead. The first advent Jesus came as the Son of Man. The second advent, Lord Jesus Christ will come as the avenger. He will return as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. There’s no escape from His judgements. Seek the Lord Jesus Christ while He is found.

Let us not forget to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Psalm 122:6

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.

Have you received the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus? It is not too late. The Bible in Acts 16 verse 31 says this:

Acts 16:31

³¹ So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.
