Glory in the Highest

Luke 2:10

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

An angel of the Lord stood before the shepherds living out in the fields and when the shepherds saw the angel shinning in the glory of the Lord, they were greatly afraid. The angel proclaimed the good news of great joy that will be for all the people of the world. Not just the shepherds. This includes you and me.

Now why is this good news? Ever since the fall of man in the garden of Eden, man has been living in disobedience to God. Even with man’s disobedience to God, God loved man for we are His creation. The only way God could reconcile us to himself was through His Son Lord Jesus Christ’s vicarious death on the cross. Christ’s blood has washed our sins away and made each one of us a new creation. For this reason Christ had to come into this world and His birth was announced by the angels as good news to all the people.

Jesus Christ is our greatest gift during this Christmas season of joy and giving. He gave Himself for our sake. Just as He came into this world the first time 2000 years ago, He will return a second time as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. The first time He came to set us free from sin and the second time He is coming to judge the living and the dead.

Jesus Christ’s return is imminent. So, let us prepare our hearts and minds to receiver Lord Jesus Christ for who He is.
