Isaiah 7:14
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
No human can ever explain the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. For all the scientists and all the doctors of the world combined cannot answer the simple question how is it possible for a virgin woman Mary to give birth to a child called Immanuel. These days we hear about surrogate mothers. It means that a woman who previously bore a child is eligible to become a surrogate mother. A virgin woman is not eligible to become a surrogate mother. Even though there is some evidence that theoretically it is possible but in reality without a male sperm XY attaching to a female chromosome XX there’s no chance of a woman becoming pregnant.
The Bible records in the Book of Isaiah chapter seven and verse fourteen that the virgin shall conceive and bears a Son. It is repeated again in Matthew chapter one and in verse twenty three by an angel of the Lord after 700 years from the first prophecy of Isaiah.
Matthew 1:23
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
How is that God only selected a virgin woman and not a woman who had children before? The Catholics present Mary as a sinless woman but that it is incorrect. For the Word of God declares that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Mary is also a sinner just like all of us. She needs a Savior to save her. In Luke chapter one Mary’s song says this:
Luke 1:47
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
God could have chosen any virgin during that time but He chose Mary to give birth to our Lord Jesus Christ. It is like God choosing me to do His work but He could have chosen anyone in my place. He could have chosen my neighbors instead but He gave me the opportunity to serve Him. If not Mary it could have been Tina. The Bible also tells us that Mary feared God.
Luke 1:50
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him
From generation to generation.
Fearing God plays an important role in the life of a believer. Fear of God should dominate every Christian. That is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom.
For anyone to reject the Son of God willfully will be the most foolish thing to do on this earth.
This Christmas season let us all seek the new born King and Lord Jesus Christ. This is the Gift that the Father will lavish upon anyone who seeks His Son.
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
