James 1:2
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
Let me take you to the story of Job. Job was a righteous man in the sight of God. Job chapter one and verse one says this:
Job 1:1
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.
Job was able to face all the trials of his life because of his love towards God. In the end God restored Job with more than what he had before.
James is not speaking to the entire world. Because in this world there are only two kinds of people. One who believes in God through His Son and the other who does not believe in the Son of God. When James said to count it all joy when we fall into trials was only meant for those people who feared God. As a matter of fact, James opens his letter addressing it to the twelve tribes scattered abroad. That means these tribes were scattered throughout the world.
James 1:1
1 James, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, to the twelve tribes of Israel who are spread across the earth:
Did you know that all of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ were of Jewish origin? In fact the gentiles were saved by the Jewish men. Jesus Himself chose to be born into a Jewish family. Everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, experiences trials in their lives. Christianity teaches the believers to pray with a burden for the lost souls. The biggest trial that a Christian faces everyday is to say no to the offerings of this world and saying yes to the teachings of our Lord. Saint Bartholomew was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. After Jesus’ ascension, it’s said the saint traveled to the east, and then onto Greater Armenia. According to traditional hagiography, he was flayed meaning skinned and beheaded there for converting the king to Christianity. Such were the trials of our Lords disciples.
They all boldly faced the trials and counted them to be a joy for our Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing compares to the trial of Christ in this Universe. All of the man’s problems and worries are worthless when we compare to the sacrifice our Lord Jesus Christ.
For anyone to reject the Son of God willfully will be the most foolish thing to do on this earth.
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
