1 Peter 4:2
2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
What is the exact meaning of lust? Lust means the desire for anything that is sinful, such as illicit sex, intoxication, ill-gotten gain, revenge, or anything else that God forbids. What does lust do to a man or a woman? Lust separates man from God. Because lust is of the flesh and righteousness is of God. Where righteousness of God exists there lust of the flesh cannot exist. Flesh cannot glorify God and vice versa. This we read in the Book of Frist Corinthians chapter one and verse twenty nine.
1 Corinthians 1:29
29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.
And verse thirty says:
30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
Christ is the righteousness of God. So, if we are in Christ, that means the righteousness of God lives in us. Man has only two choices to live with. Either he can chose Christ to live in him or he can allow his flesh to rule his body. Flesh when it is dead decays and returns to dust eventually. But if we allow Christ to live in us then then the righteousness of God who upholds life will rule our lives for eternity.
Many people do not understand this truth. Without understanding the truth these people express anger against God. In their minds they want God to show up and answer all the doubts and questions they have. The above verse that Peter wrote was addressed to the believers and not to unbelievers. This we must remember. As believers we are not lust after the things of this world but we have to make to sure to live for the will of God the Father.
In this new year let us seek the will of God and abandon all that is dragging us down into the pit. Let us look above and seek the kingdom of God. You see when we see above into the skies it is infinite but when we see down we can see the ground and touch it. Our aim should be to touch what we cannot see and it is only possible with God given spiritual eyes.
1 Corinthians 16:22
22 If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!
The above declaration is for the entire mankind. No one is exempt from this. If anyone does not love Lord Jesus Christ, he or she will face the ultimate judgment.
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
