John 6:35
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.
Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed that He is the bread of life. Let us take a moment to find out what bread does in general terms. But before we get to know what bread does to our life, let me give you a brief history of bread. The first time the word ‘bread’ is mentioned is in Book of Genesis.
Genesis 3:19
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
God cursed Adam after he broke the law of God. From that time onwards man has been working hard to earn his daily bread. From the federation of bakers website, the following excerpt is listed below:
Bread, especially whole meal, is an important source of dietary fiber which helps to keep our digestive system healthy, helps control blood sugar and cholesterol levels and makes us feel fuller for longer. Not to mention other benefits like calcium, iron, energy, vitamins etc.
In the above verse Jesus claimed that He was the bread of life. The normal bread that we eat sustains us physically and mentally. The bread that Jesus Christ was talking was about Himself. Jesus Christ came from heaven. He is from above and we are from the earth.
John 3:38
38 For I have come down from heaven, ……
The question I have for you today is that do you know anyone who has come down from heaven? According to the knowledge of this Word of God, there is no one except one Person that has come from the heaven. He is the Son of God. His name is Lord Jesus Christ. How can you for sure say that He is the Son of God?
Prior to His birth/arrival for hundreds of years, prophecies were spoken of Him and about Him. He was the Messiah that the people of the law were anxious to see and set them free from the oppression.
Jesus Christ came as the bread of life to feed the poor in spirit. To help the needy. To nourish our spirit with His body as the spiritual bread.
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
