John 6:35
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.
Just as the earthly bread that we feed on to sustain our physical life, every person living on this planet needs the spiritual bread to sustain our spiritual life. In other words everyone living in this world needs Lord Jesus Christ.
Please allow me to take you through the process of making bread. The first step in making the bread is acquiring the dough. But how does one get the dough? The dough is obtained by gathering the grain removed out of the shell. This process of removing the shell from the grain is called sifting. Real sifting happens after grain is beat down, ground up and pulverized between heavy grinding stones or sharp steel teeth. Then chaff and husk are separated and sifted from the useful and nutritious kernel. That’s called sifting.
When we examine our Lord’s life on earth it was not an everyday just going about normal business. Jesus was on a mission to serve the lost by offering Himself as a living sacrifice. His three and half year ministry was filled with trials and tribulations. In order to feed us Christ faced various threats from the Romans, the Pharisees and the Sadducees and the local people. Many times He had to escape from people mobbing Him.
On one occasion our Lord spoke saying:
Matthew 8:20
20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
Lord Jesus Christ had no place to rest. He was concerned all the time about the people and the purpose for which He came from heaven. His eyes and ears were always on the lookout those who needed His touch. He showed compassion on those that were neglected by the society. The mission that was appointed by God the Father, Jesus fulfilled it. Just like the kernel is sifted out of the husk, our Lord went through so much of pain and suffering. The reason He went through this kind of suffering on the earth was to set us free from the lies of this world. Even during His suffering He spoke the truth. He always obeyed the Father and fulfilled the will of His Father.
What a mighty God is our Lord Jesus Christ! Praise Him!
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
