John 6:35

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. 

Now the question is how does one eat this bread of life? Many times people who are not familiar with the teachings of Jesus Christ or the Word of God misunderstand the declarations made by Him. Take for example in John 6:53, Jesus said this:

John 6:53

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 

When we read the above verse, it seems like Jesus was saying to eat His flesh and drink His blood. This is the reason some critics claim that Christians practice cannibalism. This is not true. The Bible declares that God is Spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and truth.

After the death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, He was buried and on the third day He rose from the dead. 40 days after His resurrection He ascended into heaven. Lord Jesus Christ who is in heaven is seated on the right Hand of God. Everything that Jesus spoke while still on earth is meant for us to apply it to our heart. Jesus taught us that we have to begin to work from within our heart. Since man’s heart is desperately wicked and deceitful, he needs the help of the Comforter or the Helper who is the called the Holy Spirit.

Therefore any person who is saved by the grace of God through faith receives the Holy Spirit of God who indwells in us and teaches us how to live a holy and a sanctified life. Lord Jesus Christ’s body was broken for us and His blood was shed for us to cleanse from our sins. Before He was crucified, His body was beaten and bruised severely and when His hands and His feet was nailed to the cross the blood was poured out for us. Lord Jesus Christ who is the only perfect God in every aspect on that day was put through shame and sorrow. He was mocked, beaten, was made naked, and a crown of thorns was placed on His head. The bread that came from heaven for every one of us has paid the full price of sin which is death.

What a mighty God is our Lord Jesus Christ! Praise Him!
