The Day of the LORD
There’s another term that is used in the verses below and that word is ‘night’. It is natural for man to fall asleep in the darkness. Most of the population of the world sleep at night. In other words people are not alert in the nighttime because of laboring during the day time. The drunk mostly drink at night. So, it is easy for a thief to sneak at night and steal.
Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:2 says this:
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
Peter in 2 Peter 3:10 mentions this:
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, ….
Peter and Paul are suggesting that the unbelievers will experience a sudden destruction on the day of the Lord. Destruction of lives will come upon them suddenly. As the leaders of the world talk about peace and safety measures during that time the end comes on them swiftly without a warning. There won’t be anytime to escape on the Day of the Lord.
You see our Lord Jesus Christ during His first advent came as a suffering Messiah but during the second advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, He will return to earth in His glory. The scripture describes that immediately after the tribulation the sun will become darker and the moon will no longer shine.
Matthew 24:29-30
29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
What a mighty God is our Lord Jesus Christ! Praise Him!
In Jesus precious name! Amen.
Maranatha!
