The Day of the LORD
Matthew chapter twenty five and verse six clearly spoke by our Lord Jesus Christ said this:
Matthew 25:6
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’
Our Lord in this parable said that the bridegroom was coming at midnight and a cry was heard. Many Bible translations translate the word cry as a loud shout. Because all the virgins were fast asleep during that time. The only way for them to wake up was someone to shout with a loud voice telling them get up from their sleep.
Matthew 25:5
5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
Although the wise virgins slept they went to bed expecting the bridegroom could come at any given moment. But the foolish virgins slept through the night totally unprepared that the bridegroom could come at any moment. Lord Jesus Christ drew the contrast between the one looking to meet Him and the one totally ignoring the warnings.
Once the Bridegroom took the wise virgins with Him the door was shut. No opportunity was given to the foolish virgins. Does this sound familiar? You see when Noah shut the ark’s door, rain drops began to fall on the ground. But when the rain began to pour people tried to get into the boat but they could not. Genesis chapter seven describes the flood in detail. Similarly once the door is shut even for the believers who did not believe in the rapture, it would be a similar situation for them too. They will have to go through the tribulation period.
Note that in the parable Jesus said that there were ten virgins looking for the arrival of the bridegroom. The only problem was that the five virgins were foolish. They were over confident by thinking that the bridegroom would not come at an unexpected time. Many Christian denominations teach that pre-trib is a myth developed late in the eighteen hundreds. Even those who say pre-trib is a myth, would it cause any harm looking for the arrival of the Messiah? After all Jesus Himself taught in the model prayer to pray that His kingdom come. In other words every believer needs to be taught to pray for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many Churches are hesitant to talk about the coming of the Lord. In closing Jesus said this:
Matthew 24:13
13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
