Matthew 7:24
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
As Jesus Christ was nearing His sermon on the mount, He closed it by saying that whoever hears the words of Christ will be like a smart man who build his house on the rock. Now what are the qualities of a wise man you might wonder? A wise person thinks wisely before he proceeds to accomplish anything.
In the above case the wise man built his house on a solid rock. A wise builder will build his house on a rock and therefore will not suffer damage when the storm and the floods come. What does the foolish builder do? He doesn’t put his trust in the rock but instead selects the sand to build his house up on it. What happens to the sand when the floods hit? The sand sinks and drifts away taking the house with it.
Where do you want to build your house? Do you want to build it on a rock or do you want build on the sand? In the Book of Deuteronomy chapter thirty two God is described as the Rock.
Deuteronomy 32:4
4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
And in the New Testament Jesus Christ is called the Rock.
1 Corinthians 10:4
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
Pagan religions have existed for centuries and pagan worshippers have been worshipping them for centuries. Some of the ancient civilizations are extinct today. Gone are the pagan religions along with the extinction of those civilizations. Even today countless number of man made religions exist but when the flood gates of heaven are opened by Lord Jesus Christ all the religions built on sand will be washed away. No longer will they be remembered.
The wise builder are the ones who chose God as their Rock and the foolish builder is the one who ignored this Rock and decided to build the house on the sand.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
