Bible Facts Of The Day, January 13, 2025 For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath

Matthew 12:8

For a born again Christian believer everyday is a day to worship the Lord Jesus Christ to show our gratitude. As a matter of fact every breath we breath in and out we need to thank God for saving us and rescuing us from the penalty of death because of our sins.

In the above passage Lord Jesus Christ declared that He is Lord even of the Sabbath. The term “shabbath” primarily refers to the seventh day of the week, a day of rest and cessation from work, as commanded by God. It is a holy day set apart for rest and worship, commemorating God’s rest after the creation of the world (Genesis 2:2-3). The Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between God and Israel, serving as a reminder of God’s creation and deliverance. It applies to the Jewish people.

The Jewish people observe Shabbath or Sabbath because they are still living under the law. Living under the Old Covenant. These people have not encountered the Lord Jesus Christ in their lives yet. If anyone is in Christ the Bible says that they have become a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Therefore as born again believers we should not follow our old ways as the old ways have passed away. That includes observing the Sabbath. The new way is that we must worship Lord Jesus Christ as He is the Lord even of Sabbath.

The reason for Lord Jesus to say the above saying was because of His disciples went and plucked some of the grains from the grain fields as they were hungry. But the Pharisees who saw this said that it was unlawful to pluck the grain on a Sabbath day. As I mentioned earlier the Pharisees were blind to see who Christ was.

It is the same case with the Adventists today as they are unable to see who Lord Jesus Christ is. Whoever believes in Christ is a new creation.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
