LORD JESUS CHRIST
Before we get a grasp of who Lord Jesus Christ is, we really need to understand who we are individually and collectively. Without understanding our nature first, we cannot know who God is.
The human nature is also called the nature of the flesh. For every human being is made of flesh and bones. Yes, a man is made of flesh and bones; “flesh” referring to the soft tissues of the body, and “bones” making up the skeletal structure that provides support and shape to the body.
There are two other unseen things that a person possesses besides the flesh and bones which is also called the body. It is the soul and the spirit. The Bible presents the mankind as consisting of three parts: body, soul, and spirit. This is called the “tripartite” nature of man.
The soul is the lifeforce of a person, including the body. The soul can extend from physical to spiritual, from this world to the next. The soul is our personality, who we are.
The spirit is the intangible, unseen human spirit that governs man’s mental and emotional existence. The spirit is the immaterial part of humanity that connects with God. The spirit is the element in humanity that gives us the ability to have an intimate relationship with God. Discerning the precise differences between the two can be confusing.
But in the Book of Hebrews chapter four we read that:
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
Only the Word of God is able to divide the soul and the spirit of a person. The soul of an individual carries the spirit of that person. Why is it so important for God to separate the soul from our spirit?
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
