Romans 8:30, ³⁰ Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

1. Predestination: This refers to God’s eternal purpose and plan, made before the foundation of the world, to save certain individuals. It’s not about God simply foreseeing who will believe, but about His deliberate and sovereign choice to set His love on a people for Himself. 

2. Calling: This is God’s effectual call that comes to those whom He has predestined, bringing them to faith in Christ. It’s a call that results in spiritual life and a response of faith and repentance. 

3. Justification: This is God’s declaration that a person is righteous in His sight, based on the perfect work of Christ. It’s a legal declaration of being free from the penalty of sin and having the imputed righteousness of Christ. 

4. Glorification: This refers to the final state of believers, when they will be completely transformed into the image of Christ and receive resurrected bodies. It’s a certainty, assured by God’s predestining work, and signifies the ultimate completion of God’s redemptive plan. 

In essence, Romans 8:30 highlights:

• The secure nature of salvation: The chain of God’s actions, from predestination to glorification, ensures that those whom God chooses will be brought to final glory.
• God’s sovereignty in salvation: The verse emphasizes that salvation is initiated and completed by God, not dependent on human performance.
• The assurance of future glory: Believers can have confidence in their future glorification, as it is a settled matter in God’s eternal decree. 

Important Note: While the verse emphasizes God’s sovereign work in salvation, it does not negate the importance of human response. Believers are called to faith and repentance, and to actively live out their faith in thankfulness for God’s grace.

Prayer:  “Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise that you have predestined, called, justified, and glorified those whom you love. Thank You for Your unwavering faithfulness and Your perfect plan for our lives. I thank You for the Holy Spirit who intercedes for me with groanings too deep for words, and I know that You are listening to His prayers on my behalf. I am confident that Your plans for me will be fulfilled, and I wait with joy for the day when I will see You face to face.

Lord, I pray that I may be more and more conformed to the image of Your Son, and that I may live a life that glorifies You. Help me to walk in Your ways and to follow Your guidance with a heart full of trust and hope.
