Bible Facts Of The Day, June 09, 2025 Who shall bring a charge

  • God’s elect: These are those who have been chosen by God and are in a right relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Justifies: This means God declares them righteous in His sight. He forgives their sins and credits them with the perfect righteousness of Christ.
  • The phrase “Who shall bring a charge…?” is a rhetorical question that emphasizes the secure position of believers in Christ. Because God has justified them, no accusation or charge can stand against them in the courtroom of heaven. No matter what accusations may arise (from within, from others, or even from Satan), they are rendered ineffective because God, the ultimate Judge, has declared them righteous.

This statement is part of a larger section in Romans 8 where the apostle Paul highlights the immense security and assurance believers have in Christ. It follows verses that emphasize God’s unwavering support for those who are in Christ: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Paul continues to build this argument in the following verse by stating that Christ, who died and was raised, is now interceding for us at the right hand of God, further solidifying our security.
