LORD JESUS CHRIST
Genesis 4:16
16 Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.
Cain becoming a fugitive and a vagabond resulted in living away from the presence of the Lord. This is how the history of man began. Man began to grieve the Lord, that resulted in man walking out of the presence of God. Even today we witness these things. Anytime a person disobeys the order and commandments of God, he or she is guaranteed to spend time away from their Creator.
This is what happened to Adam and Eve in the Garden. God provided everything for Adam to have a fruitful life but instead Adam chose to break the Lord’s order. Thus the first couple were kicked out of the garden. They lost the rights to live and to become fruitful in the garden that God made for them. The Word of God teaches everyone who believes in His word that He will not tolerate even the slightest hint of sin.
When we examine the sin committed by Adam it doesn’t seem to be much. In today’s measurement of sin, Adam’s sin is so microscopic in nature. Yet, God punished both Adam and Eve. For this reason Jesus Christ speaking to His disciples said this:
Matthew 5:29
29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
The gravity of sin is inconceivable. Lord Jesus Christ said that if the right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it away. To put it another way, the destruction caused by sin is enormous leading to death. Leading to dust. Jesus did not mean to gouge the eye literally out of the socket but the extent of the damage that sin could cause.
There’s a misconception about the penalty of sinning, and that if anyone sins, God is going to strike them dead instantly. Of course the Bible says that the wages of sin is death but it does not say that as soon as someone sins, they are going to die instantly. If that was the case then this whole world would be short of people. Because everyone of them is born a sinner.
Now let us look at Cain. Genesis chapter four and verse sixteen declares that Cain went out from the Lord’s presence. He goes to a place called ‘Nod’. Nod means fugitive or a wanderer. So, this was a place where exiles would live. Any person living without knowing the Lord will become a fugitive and a wanderer.
But for the ones who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are like the sojourners and pilgrims. Because the believers permanent dwelling place is in heaven. Heaven is not a place for the fugitives and the wanderers. For the people who are heavenly minded are stable minded and they are settled with their ambitions.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
