John 20:25
25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
The foundation of Christian faith remains in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Had Jesus not risen from the dead, then there’s no need to worship Him and no one needs to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. He is the chief cornerstone of our faith. His death and the resurrection proved that God the Father accepted the penalty of our sin through His Son. Because Jesus paid it all and all to Him we owe.
After the resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared to His disciples minus Thomas during the forty days that Jesus walked on the earth. When the other disciples disclosed to Thomas that they had seen the Lord, Thomas instead of believing their words insisted that he would believe only if he sees the Lord’s pierced hands, and His pierced side. Eight days later Jesus appeared to the eleven disciples once again and this time Thomas was present. Jesus said to Thomas to put his finger into the nail pierced hands and His side. What a blessing was for Thomas to literally touch the Lord’s physical body? What will we give in exchange to touch the Lord’s resurrected body? Will the riches of this world be enough to surrender at the Lord Jesus Christ feet? The entire world’s population of eight billion combined riches would not justify the Lord’s death on the cross. The entire Universe’s riches are like dust at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ. God’s unwavering, unmatched grace and mercy, and His eternal Love belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ. All authority has been given to Jesus by the Father.
Jesus afterwards said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed”. The believers of this generation have not seen the nail pierced hands and the side of Jesus but we have believed in Jesus through His Word declared in the scriptures. How great it is to be blessed by our Lord Jesus just by believing in Him and receive His blessings! In Him and Him alone is life and freedom. In Jesus name! Amen.
Maranatha!
