Galatians 5:24
And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
How did we become Christ’s? When we accepted God’s free gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. Now let’s see the works of the flesh which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; all of these things fall under a single category called sin.
Jesus Christ came into this world to take away my sin and your sin. The Bible declares that the wages of sin is death. There is no way for my sin to be cleansed by my righteousness. That’s why God sent forth His Son so that He could take away the sins of the world by bearing it on the cross of Calvary. Since the wages of the sin is death, Jesus took our sins, punishments and infirmities and He nailed it to the cross once for all thus putting an end to the sinful life of ours by dying on the cross and He rose on the third day conquering the death. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was a great blow to the Satan and his lies.
Along with Christ those who have accepted God’s free gift of salvation, have crucified their fleshly desires that drag us everyday with its passions to a new life free from these things. This new life is called the new birth or born again life. If we claim to be who we are then the passions and lusts of this world should not hold any affect on the true believer. Because the Holy Spirit that lives in us teaches us to say no to ungodliness and yes to way of God. We now are entitled to a victorious life filled with the Spirit. The Word of God declares that if we walk in the Spirit, and we shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Christ was crucified once and for all the humanity. Let us declare the freedom that we have received through the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him and Him alone is life and freedom. In Jesus name! Amen.
