  • Bible Facts Of The Day, December 12, 2025 The Lord Loves You

    December 12th, 2025

    Deuteronomy 7:7-8

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the Lord loves you,

    INTRODUCTION

The Bible answers this question directly—and the answer is far more about God’s character than Israel’s merit.

    1. God Chose Israel Because of His Sovereign Love

God loved Israel because He loved them.

His choice was an act of sovereign, undeserved grace—not based on Israel’s size, strength, or righteousness (Deut. 9:4–6).

    Key point:

God’s choice is rooted in His own heart, not in Israel’s goodness.

    2. God Chose Israel to Keep His Promise to Abraham

God made a covenant with Abraham (Genesis 12:1–3; 15:1–18; 17:1–8).

Israel was chosen because God is faithful to His promises.

    He told Abraham:

“I will make you a great nation.” “In you all families of the earth shall be blessed.”

    Key point:

Israel is the covenant nation through whom God fulfills His ancient promise.

    3. God Chose Israel to Display His Glory to the Nations

In Exodus 19:5–6, God says Israel would be:

A treasured possession A kingdom of priests A holy nation

Israel was chosen to reflect God’s character to the world.

    They were meant to:

Display God’s holiness Reveal the one true God Be a priestly people mediating knowledge of God to the nations Produce the Scriptures Preserve the true worship of Yahweh

    4. God Chose Israel to Bring the Messiah Into the World

God’s redemptive plan centers on Christ:

Jesus is the son of David Born in Bethlehem From the tribe of Judah Rooted in the line of Abraham (Matthew 1; Luke 3)

    Key point:

The Messiah had to come through a specific people.

    Israel is that chosen vessel.

    5. God Chose Israel to Illustrate Grace and Redemption

Israel’s story is a living testimony of:

God’s patience God’s holiness God’s discipline God’s mercy God’s covenant faithfulness despite human failure

Israel is a mirror showing the entire world what mercy looks like.

    Summarized in One Sentence:

God chose Israel out of sovereign love, to keep His covenant promises, to reveal His glory to the nations, and to bring salvation to the world through Jesus Christ.

    Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
