  • Bible Facts Of The Day, January 09, 2026 “The God Of Abraham”

    January 9th, 2026

    Exodus 3:6

6 Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

    INTRODUCTION

In the above passage, God, the Creator of this Universe introduces Himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. To unpack this passage alone it could take years, if not a whole lifetime.

God is declaring His deity. His divine authority. His authenticity. His supreme and sovereignty over the entire creation in this passage.

No one can comprehend God’s character, His holiness, His righteousness, His glory, His grace, His mercy, His love, His suffering and His patience.

    I. God choses earthly people like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

The Bible describes in the Book of Genesis that God formed man out of the dust of the ground and He breathed into the nostrils the breath of life and called that man Adam.

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (Gen 2:7)

From that time onward, every person that has ever lived and died or living in the present day are all made out of dust of the ground. For the scripture says in Genesis that out of dust we are made and to dust we shall return.

When God formed the man, He loved the man He made immensely. God made the man at the very last day of His six day creation and said that it was very good.

II. When God takes a man’s name and refers Himself to that man

For God to use Abraham as a reference is a mind boggling thought. God referred Himself as the God of Abraham.

Take a deep breath and ponder upon How can a God who created Abraham out of dust is calling Himself as the God of Abraham. You see this is not a normal thing.

You must have heard many stories where parents are referring themselves as the parents of a famous child or a big football player and so on.

It is not like God is not famous and He is trying to get His fame through Abraham. God here is expressing Himself how Abraham was obedient to His commandments.

III. God is using Abraham’s name to let the children of Israel know

You see Abraham was a pagan man worshipping idols along with his father Terah who were living at the Ur of Chaldeans until God called him.

But it was God, who called Abraham from the land of the dead to a land that God destined. (Genesis 12:1)

IV. Success comes at a cost

You see Abraham went through a lot of hardships in his life.

    1. Leaving Home and Security (Genesis 12:1–4)

God called Abraham to leave his country, family, and inheritance without telling him the destination.
Hardship: Total uncertainty and loss of stability.
Lesson: Faith often requires obedience before understanding.

    2. Living as a Stranger (Genesis 12–23)

Abraham lived as a nomad in Canaan, a land promised to him but never fully possessed in his lifetime.
Hardship: Living in tents, without ownership or permanence.
Lesson: God’s promises may be future-oriented; faith looks beyond the present (Hebrews 11:9–10).

    3. Famine and Fear (Genesis 12:10–20)

A severe famine forced Abraham to flee to Egypt, where fear led him to lie about Sarah.
Hardship: Economic pressure and moral failure.
Lesson: Even people of faith struggle, yet God remains faithful.

    4. Conflict with Lot (Genesis 13)

Strife arose between Abraham’s herdsmen and Lot’s.
    Hardship: Relational tension within family.
Lesson: Faith expresses itself through humility and peace.

    5. Waiting for the Promised Son (Genesis 15–21)

Abraham waited about 25 years for Isaac.
Hardship: Long-term disappointment and doubt, leading to Ishmael.
Lesson: God’s timing is perfect, even when waiting is painful.

    6. The Sacrifice of Isaac (Genesis 22)

God commanded Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice.
Hardship: The ultimate emotional and spiritual test—surrendering the promise itself.
Lesson: True faith trusts God completely and believes He will provide.

Prove it to God that you are one hundred percent obedient like Abraham was and God will call Himself as the God of (your name).

    Redemption demands decision.

    Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
