Revelation 21:5

⁵ Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.

Happy New Year 2024!

Now that we have entered into the New Year 2024, let us all begin with meditating on the promises of God. The above passage is spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ from the Book of Revelation chapter twenty one.

For many people the new year begins with new year resolutions. Some chose to eat healthy, exercise regularly and et cetera et cetera. Some commit to read the scriptures and pray and attend the Church regularly. To do any of the above mentioned things one needs to learn to self-control. Self-control is one of the biggest challenges for man to keep up with. This is the reason losing weight products have become a billion dollar business. Man always tries to find the fastest way to lose weight. Since he cannot keep up with self discipline, he gains back all that lost weight.

Similarly, reading Bible and Prayer encouraging books have also become a billion dollar business. There are so many publishers that sell short cuts or quick learning techniques to complete reading the Bible in one year or sometimes even less than a year. And then there are millions of Christian authors writing books on how to know God. Today I will focus only on how to encounter Christ in our lives. From my point of view if a person can meditate only on reading the Bible and spending enough time in prayer, the Holy Spirit will begin to speak to that person and will open his heart to understand.

Let me give you a simple analogy. Have you ever seen a baby reading books on how to crawl or how to walk or run? Since the mother is the first person that the baby encounters, the baby begins to learn from the mother and the father. Similarly when a believer learns to walk with God, the Holy Spirit guides him/her to the next level. Yes. Books help. Many times I hear Pastors and Preachers asking each other what books have they read lately or what Podcast have they listened recently. They ask these questions as if they have read the Bible cover to cover and remember everything that is written in it. Other books might enable our understanding to some extent of the Bible, but there is no book under the heaven other than the Bible that opens our understanding. Only the Bible is written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Only Holy Spirit can open our mind to understand the things of God.

In order to encounter Lord Jesus Christ first one has to understand his or her position in Christ. Perhaps some of you may have heard some rich billionaire’s story that when he came to a city he had only five dollars in his pocket but today he is a rich billionaire and he never forgets his humble beginnings. Similarly when we come to Jesus we must never forget where we were brought and bought from and our level of understanding of who God was. Remember everything that a believer possess is given by God the Father.

Begin to speak to God that without His grace you are nothing. You are a nobody until you came into God’s presence. For learning the things of God, one has to be self-aware of your surroundings. Speaking to God means speaking to the Holy Spirit through His Son Jesus Christ. When a believer is reading the scriptures and praying, know that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are present along with the heavenly hosts. That means there are heavenly armies that are surrounding you.

Tell the Holy Spirit what you are going through in your life. Be open about everything. Life up your hands and kneel down. Please do not forget to thank Him and praise Him for giving you the ability to stand in His presence. Thank God the Father for His presence and continue to worship Him. Do not bring any concerns of this life or any longings of this life but thank the Father for allowing His Son to come into your life. Thank God for giving you this special opportunity, special privilege to praise Him.

Now begin to talk about your weaknesses and ask for strength to overcome the weaknesses. Be open what you are seeking from the Lord. Lord I seek to fellowship with You and You alone. Please forgive me for my friendship with the world. Friendship with the world is enmity with God.

Plead with God to cleanse you from all unrighteousness through the blood of the Lamb, Lord Jesus Christ. Tell God that only the blood of Jesus will cleanse you from the sins of this world. Thank Lord Jesus Christ for choosing you before the foundations of this world was laid out and thank Him for writing your name in the Lambs Book of Life.

For anyone to reject the Son of God willfully will be the most foolish thing to do on this earth.

Romans 10:9

⁹ because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
