James 1:2

² My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 

James is exhorting the believers to count it all joy when we fall into various trials. Now let us briefly examine what is a trial. Biblically speaking a trial is a period of time during which a person’s faith is tested. How faithful he or she is towards God even during the most difficult time. There are many Biblical personalities that have experienced the most troublesome times during their lifetime.

One such example is the story of Joseph. From a very young age he experienced the trials from his half-brothers. They treated him badly. They even tried to kill him. Regardless of his brothers actions, Joseph never lost his faith in God. James goes on further claiming in verse 3 that testing of faith produces patience. Joseph waited 13 years before the promise of God was manifested in his life.

There are many stories mentioned in the Bible of how testing of faith produced patience. But the most important of all is the trial of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him. Did you know that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith? Even though Christ is the originator of faith, He faced the trial and counted it all joy despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God after His resurrection from the dead.

What kind of trial are you facing today? Please do not worry. Just like Christ, we are also being equipped with joy to face any kind of trial(s).

For anyone to reject the Son of God willfully will be the most foolish thing to do on this earth.

This Christmas season let us all seek the new born King Lord Jesus Christ. This is the greatest gift that the Father will lavish upon anyone who seeks His Son.
