Purpose of Hell

Psalm 9:17

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned into hell,
And all the nations that forget God.

The word wicked is defined as evil or morally wrong. In the Old Testament: The state of being wicked; a mental disregard for justice, righteousness, truth, honor, virtue; evil in thought and life; depravity; sinfulness; criminality. How do we define what is morally right or wrong? To understand this better, we need to go the Word of God. The Word of God or the Bible is the only authority on the morality of human being. The morality of a human is based the on the moral laws instituted by God Himself. He is the source of righteousness. Because of His holiness nothing unholy can stand in His presence. There is no other way for man to measure the morality. Satan is the author of wickedness. It is measured by one’s intention to inflict harm to oneself or others in the society and or to an entire nation influenced by the Satan or the Devil who is the instigator of chaos and confusion.

Ezekiel 33:11 declares: Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. 

The first thing that comes to mind about a wicked person is that they are very bad who has extreme behavior like a murderer or a rapist, a pedophile and so on. But the true meaning of a wicked person according to God is that one who does not fear Him or worship Him out of reverence for Him. God is the creator of this universe, and everything that exists in this world belongs to God and that includes us. For He is the rightful owner of the earth and He holds the deed and the title. God expects each one of us to glorify Him since we are His subjects. Many people living in this world opt for something similar to look like god. No one has seen God. The Bible is clear that God is Spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and truth.

That’s the reason the world is filled with people who are ignorant about this truth and are therefore continuously deceiving themselves while deceiving others. Wickedness leads to evil just like wisdom leads to righteousness. Evil leads to the consequence of death and wisdom is a path that leads to the destination of wisdom. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for showing us the way to the Father.
