    Matthew 28:9

….. Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him

After the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead the women who were following Jesus before the crucifixion, now heard the news from the angel of the Lord at the empty tomb that the Lord is risen. After hearing the good news from the angel they ran to the disciples to break the news. On the way Jesus met the women and said, “Rejoice!” In Greek language rejoice is called chairó. Meaning, literally, to experience God’s grace.

We always have to remember that every Word that Jesus spoke had two meanings. One is the earthly meaning and the second is the spiritual meaning. In this case Jesus told the women not only be glad but spiritually experience God’s grace for He is risen. Imagine how blessed were these women who literally saw Jesus Christ after His body was resurrected from the dead. Not only that Jesus spoke to them saying, “Rejoice!” Matthew the author of the Gospel of Matthew recorded this conversation and presented it in chapter 28 so that the generation(s) to come will read this passage and literally experience God’s grace. What a joy and privilege for each one of us reading the last chapter of the Book of Matthew. As we continue to read, the women came and held by His feet and worshipped Him. Another Bible version says, they clasped His feet, meaning they never let Him go. Are we able to say the same? Have we ever thought of clasping Jesus feet spiritually and never let Him go? Let us ponder on this verse today. Let us experience the power of God’s grace, so that we may clasp our hands around Jesus feet and continue to worship Him without ceasing. In Jesus name! Amen.

    Maranatha!
